Four Hands, Two Sonatas Episode 7 revealed something that completely changes the relationship between Jeong-yo and Bi-o.
Jeong-yo remembers.
For nine years, Bi-o believed his old friend was gone. When Jeong-yo finally returned, he appeared to have lost the memories of his past—including his friendship with Bi-o.
But Episode 7 suggests that the amnesia was an act.
That creates a much bigger question:
Why did Jeong-yo pretend not to remember Bi-o?
When Bi-o meets him again, he carefully introduces himself as someone who attended school with him in Korea.
Jeong-yo doesn’t correct him.
Instead, he keeps his distance and allows Bi-o to believe that their shared past has disappeared from his memory.
Later, however, Jeong-yo casually reveals that he remembers a place from that same past.
That changes the meaning of his earlier behavior.
He wasn’t cold because Bi-o was a stranger
This may be the most important part of the twist.
If Jeong-yo remembers Bi-o, then his coldness isn’t caused by amnesia.
It’s a choice.
He remembers their friendship.
He remembers their music.
And he may remember far more about what happened nine years ago than anyone around him realizes.
So why create this distance?
One possibility is that Jeong-yo is trying to protect himself—or Bi-o—from something connected to the accident and his disappearance.
Another possibility is more painful: perhaps seeing Bi-o again forces Jeong-yo to confront a past he deliberately left behind.
The drama hasn’t fully answered that question yet.
Bi-o and Jeong-yo were never just ordinary rivals
Their relationship has always mixed friendship and competition.
They challenge each other musically, but they also understand each other in a way few other people can.
That is why Jeong-yo’s lie matters so much.
Pretending not to remember an ordinary acquaintance would be simple.
Pretending not to remember Bi-o is different.
It means Jeong-yo looked at someone who once mattered deeply to him and deliberately treated him like a stranger.
Episode 7 changes the mystery
Until now, the obvious question was what happened to Jeong-yo during those missing nine years.
After Episode 7, there is another mystery:
How much does Jeong-yo actually remember?
If he remembers Bi-o and their past together, he may also remember the truth behind the accident, his disappearance, and why he gave up the piano.
And if that’s true, Jeong-yo’s biggest secret may not be where he has been for nine years.
It may be why he doesn’t want Bi-o to know the truth.
