Spoiler Warning: This article discusses the ending and future of Drishyam: The Conclusion.

Drishyam: The Conclusion sounds definitive.

Not Drishyam 3.

Not Drishyam: The Final Game.

The Conclusion.

And yet after watching Vijay Salgaonkar escape one final investigation, some viewers are already asking an obvious question:

Is this really the end?

Could Ajay Devgn return for Drishyam 4?

The confusion is understandable because there are now two different answers depending on which Drishyam franchise you mean.

For the Hindi series starring Ajay Devgn, the answer is currently very clear.

The filmmakers intend Drishyam: The Conclusion to be the end.

But the larger Drishyam universe is more complicated.

Is Drishyam: The Conclusion Officially the Final Hindi Movie?

Yes.

When the third Hindi film was announced, it was presented as the final chapter of Vijay Salgaonkar’s story. Hindustan Times

But the strongest confirmation came from director Abhishek Pathak before the movie’s release.

Speaking to Variety India, Pathak ruled out another Hindi installment and explained that the Hindi and Malayalam versions are now moving along different trajectories. Variety India

That distinction is important.

The Hindi films began as adaptations of the Malayalam Drishyam movies.

But Drishyam: The Conclusion is no longer simply following exactly the same path.

The two versions have diverged.

So even if another Malayalam Drishyam story exists, that does not automatically mean Ajay Devgn will return for Drishyam 4.

Then Why Are People Talking About Drishyam 4?

Because the Drishyam franchise has become surprisingly complicated.

The Malayalam original follows Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal.

The Hindi adaptation follows Vijay Salgaonkar, played by Ajay Devgn.

They began with essentially the same central story, but the Hindi version has increasingly developed its own characters and narrative choices.

Pathak specifically said the two stories are moving in different directions, while acknowledging that the Malayalam filmmakers may have a story they want to continue. Variety India

That creates an unusual situation.

A future Drishyam movie can exist…

without being a sequel to Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion.

Reddit Is Already Confused About This

Audience discussions show exactly why this question is likely to keep appearing.

After watching The Conclusion, one Reddit user said the Hindi film felt like a satisfying ending—but then expressed hope that Jeethu Joseph could take a similar approach with Drishyam 4.

Another commenter argued that the third film was already a good place to stop, regardless of whether the larger story eventually continues. Reddit

Even before the Hindi movie opened, Reddit discussions contained people asking about or joking about a fourth installment. Reddit

The reason is simple:

People are mixing together two related but increasingly separate franchises.

Could the Hindi Ending Still Continue?

From a purely storytelling perspective?

Yes.

A writer could always find another threat to Vijay.

His family still carries the psychological consequences of everything that happened.

Meera still has every reason to hate him.

Physical evidence and forensic questions can always create new problems.

And Vijay’s entire life has been built around protecting one secret.

So The Conclusion does not end by making another story logically impossible.

But that’s different from saying another movie is planned.

There is currently no announced Hindi Drishyam 4.

More importantly, the director has explicitly said he sees no possibility of revisiting the Hindi franchise. Variety India

That is much stronger evidence than an ambiguous final scene or fan theory.

Why End Vijay’s Story Now?

Because another sequel creates a fundamental problem for Drishyam.

How many times can Vijay outsmart another investigator before the idea stops being surprising?

The first movie’s power came from watching an ordinary cable-TV operator construct an extraordinary alibi.

The second movie escalated the game.

The Conclusion escalates it again by bringing Vijay’s old crime back through new evidence and another formidable investigation.

At some point, however, repeating the structure risks turning Vijay from a clever man desperately protecting his family into someone who can escape anything.

That would change the character.

Ending the Hindi series while Vijay’s methods can still surprise us may therefore be more satisfying than finding a fourth police officer for him to defeat.

Some Reddit reaction already reflects this tension: viewers praised The Conclusion as a fitting ending, while others debated whether the familiar “Vijay has a plan” formula had already been stretched far enough. Reddit

Why Call It The Conclusion?

The title now makes much more sense.

It isn’t simply marketing language for “the biggest Drishyam yet.”

It tells the audience what the movie is supposed to accomplish:

finish Vijay Salgaonkar’s story.

The official announcement described the movie as the third and final Hindi installment, and subsequent reporting continued to identify it as the franchise’s concluding chapter. Hindustan Times

That also changes how we should read the ending.

Every unresolved detail does not necessarily exist to set up another sequel.

Some ambiguity can simply remain ambiguity.

Vijay does not need to spend the rest of his life fighting increasingly elaborate investigations on screen.

The audience can leave knowing that he survived his final battle.

So Will There Be a Drishyam 4?

For Ajay Devgn’s Hindi Drishyam:

There is currently no Drishyam 4, and the director says The Conclusion is the end. Variety India

For the Malayalam Drishyam universe:

The situation is different, because its story is following its own trajectory. Pathak himself distinguished that continuing storyline from what the Hindi filmmakers have chosen to do. Variety India

That’s the key distinction behind much of the confusion.

Drishyam may not be finished everywhere.

But Vijay Salgaonkar appears to be.

And perhaps that’s appropriate.

For three movies, Vijay survived by making everyone question what they saw.

The final trick may be surprisingly simple:

This time, when the title says The Conclusion…

we should probably believe it.
