SHOW WHAT I AM

  • IVE Just Toured North America—How Big Has Their Global Audience Become?

IVE is no longer just taking K-pop overseas.

They’re building a global touring audience.

The six-member group took its “SHOW WHAT I AM” world tour across North America this summer, performing in major cities from Toronto to Los Angeles before heading back to Asia.

And the route itself tells an interesting story.

Toronto. Montreal. Newark. Austin. Los Angeles. Oakland. Seattle. Vancouver.

Eight North American cities — followed by Hong Kong and three nights at Taipei Arena.

For a group that debuted less than five years ago, that’s quite a footprint.

So how global has IVE become?

IVE Didn’t Just Pick New York and Los Angeles

This may be the most interesting part of the tour.

When K-pop acts first test the North American market, the obvious choices are usually major hubs such as Los Angeles and the New York area.

    IVE went wider.

The tour started its North American leg in Toronto on July 21, followed by Montreal, Newark, Austin, Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle and Vancouver.

Three Canadian cities alone made the schedule.

That detail immediately caught fans’ attention.

When the new dates were announced on Reddit, Canadian fans celebrated seeing Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver all included rather than just one Canadian stop.

That’s a small detail with a bigger implication:

IVE’s touring strategy is testing demand beyond the most obvious K-pop markets.

Then They Went Straight Back to Asia

North America wasn’t the finish line.

After Vancouver, IVE returned to Asia for shows in Hong Kong before arriving at Taipei Arena for three concerts on September 11, 12 and 13.

The final Taipei performance was also offered as a paid global livestream through Mnet Plus.

That means IVE wasn’t only reaching fans physically inside the arena.

The same tour was also being packaged for viewers who couldn’t be there.

And Reddit reactions from the Taipei livestream showed fans comparing the production directly with the North American concerts, including comments praising the Taipei stage and noting the return of props that hadn’t appeared during the North American leg.

Wonyoung Gets the Headlines—but IVE Is the Bigger Story

Jang Wonyoung’s individual popularity makes headlines constantly.

Fashion campaigns, beauty deals and viral moments can easily make it look as though IVE’s global visibility revolves around one member.

But a world tour measures something different.

A brand can hire one celebrity.

An arena tour needs thousands of people willing to buy tickets.

Reddit ticket-sale discussions showed fans navigating queues for cities including Toronto, Montreal, Newark and Los Angeles, with VIP and send-off packages becoming part of the conversation.

That’s a different kind of popularity from social-media engagement.

It requires fans to spend money, travel and physically show up.

IVE Is Entering a Different Stage of Its Career

    IVE debuted in December 2021.

Early in their career, the big question was whether hits such as “LOVE DIVE,” “After LIKE” and “I AM” could establish them among K-pop’s leading girl groups.

A world tour creates a different question:

Can those listeners become a lasting international live audience?

“SHOW WHAT I AM” is giving us part of the answer.

The tour has stretched across Asia and North America, with major arena dates in markets including Japan, Canada, the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

And perhaps the most revealing detail isn’t any single concert.

    It’s the map.

From Seoul to Toronto to Taipei

K-pop’s international growth is often measured through Spotify streams, YouTube views and Billboard rankings.

    Touring gives us another measurement.

Where can an artist actually put on a show?

For IVE, that map keeps getting larger.

    North America wasn’t a one-city promotional stop.

    Canada wasn’t limited to Toronto.

And after crossing North America, the group returned to Asia and continued filling its schedule.

That’s why “SHOW WHAT I AM” matters.

IVE isn’t simply asking whether overseas fans will stream its next song.

It’s finding out how many of them will show up when the group comes to town.

And increasingly, IVE has a lot more towns to visit.
