IVE Wonyoung

  • Why Did UGG Choose IVE’s Wonyoung as Its New Face in Asia?

UGG has a new face in Asia.

And it’s one of K-pop’s most recognizable fashion stars.

IVE’s Jang Wonyoung has been named UGG’s new ambassador for the Asia-Pacific region, beginning with the brand’s Fall/Winter 2026 campaign.

At first, it looks like another K-pop star landing another fashion deal.

But there’s a more interesting question:

    Why Wonyoung?

UGG Isn’t Just Using Wonyoung for Korea

    This isn’t a Korea-only campaign.

Wonyoung is representing UGG across the Asia-Pacific region, putting her at the center of a much larger regional push.

The campaign, called “Born to Feel,” launched on September 17 across UGG’s website, social media, advertising and stores.

In Japan, the campaign is also scheduled to appear on five large outdoor advertising sites in Tokyo, including locations around Harajuku and Shibuya, from September 21 through 27.

That makes Wonyoung more than a celebrity appearing in a few promotional photos.

She’s being positioned as a recognizable face for UGG across major Asian markets.

The Campaign Shows a Different Wonyoung

There’s also something interesting about the concept.

Fans are used to seeing Wonyoung looking polished on stage, at fashion events and in luxury campaigns.

    UGG went in another direction.

“Born to Feel” focuses on more relaxed, everyday moments, built around the idea that comfort begins when people can be themselves.

In the campaign, Wonyoung wears pieces from UGG’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection in softer, casual settings rather than presenting another glamorous red-carpet image.

And that contrast may be part of the appeal.

Wonyoung is famous for looking luxurious.
UGG is famous for looking comfortable.

Put those two images together, and suddenly comfort becomes fashion.

Wonyoung Is Becoming Much More Than an IVE Keyword

This is where her value to brands becomes particularly interesting.

Wonyoung isn’t searchable only when IVE releases music.

Her name regularly appears in conversations about fashion, beauty and advertising as well.

Even among IVE fans, her growing list of brand partnerships has become a topic of conversation. A recent Reddit thread appeared almost immediately after the UGG announcement, with fans trying to keep track of the various brands connected to individual IVE members.

That gives Wonyoung something extremely valuable to a fashion company:

an audience that follows what she wears, not just what she sings.

    Why Asia-Pacific Matters

UGG is a California-born brand, but this campaign clearly isn’t aimed only at American consumers.

The regional appointment and the large Tokyo rollout show that Wonyoung is being used specifically to strengthen the brand’s visibility across Asian markets.

And K-pop idols are increasingly useful in exactly this role.

    Their influence crosses borders.

A Korean singer can generate attention in Japan, Southeast Asia and other markets almost instantly through the same campaign.

Wonyoung already arrives with that cross-border recognition.

    UGG gets the celebrity.

But more importantly, it gets the audience following her.

    So, Why Wonyoung?

UGG’s own explanation emphasizes Wonyoung’s confidence, positive energy and individuality as qualities that fit the brand’s values.

But from a marketing perspective, the partnership has another obvious advantage.

Wonyoung sits at the intersection of several audiences:

    K-pop fans.
    Fashion followers.
    Beauty consumers.
    IVE fans.
    And younger shoppers across Asia.

That’s a lot of attention attached to one pair of boots.

So perhaps the interesting question isn’t why UGG chose Wonyoung.

    It might be:

Which global brand will call her next?
