  • A Shop for Killers Season 2 Ending Explained: Who Is Chen — And Did the Finale Just Set Up Season 3?

Warning: Major spoilers for A Shop for Killers Season 2.

A Shop for Killers Season 2 ends with bodies everywhere, Murthehelp changed forever and Ji-an no longer looking like the frightened young woman we met in Season 1.

But then the drama introduces one more man.

    Chen.

Played by Yoo Ji-tae, Chen appears at the very end as a powerful figure connected to Babylon.

That immediately creates a new question.

Was Season 2 really the end of the war?

Or did the finale just introduce the person Ji-an and Jin-man may have to fight next?

Ji-an destroys the shop she once fought to protect

The finale forces Ji-an into an impossible position.

Babylon’s forces invade Murthehelp, and the people protecting her begin falling one after another.

Pa-shin makes his final stand after Jin-man rescues his son.

Brother is also killed while helping Ji-an escape.

Then Ji-an does something that would have been almost unimaginable for the Ji-an of Season 1.

    She burns the shop.

Murthehelp was built by Jin-man as a fortress.

It was supposed to protect Ji-an.

But now Ji-an herself destroys it to kill the Babylon mercenaries trapped inside.

That is more than an action scene.

It shows how much she has changed.

She is no longer simply surviving inside Jin-man’s world.

She is beginning to make the decisions.

But destroying Murthehelp was not the real plan

Kusanagi believes she has won something much more valuable than a building.

She obtains what appears to be Murthehelp’s core server.

    But it is a trap.

To access the information, Kusanagi has to connect Murthehelp’s server to Babylon’s system.

That connection gives Ji-an’s side exactly the opportunity they need.

They gain access to Babylon’s secrets — including information surrounding J’s death and Kusanagi’s attempt to conceal what really happened.

Even Jin-man’s capture becomes part of the larger operation.

The finale therefore reveals something important about Ji-an.

She is not merely becoming a better fighter.

    She is becoming a strategist.

And that may be much more dangerous.

    What happens to Kusanagi?

Kusanagi spends much of Season 2 appearing to control the battlefield.

But the information she tried to bury eventually destroys her position.

Once the truth surrounding J becomes exposed, the alliances holding Babylon together begin to collapse.

    Kusanagi ultimately dies.

But Babylon does not disappear with her.

    That distinction matters.

    Kusanagi was a major enemy.

She was not the entire organization.

And the finale makes that very clear by introducing someone above the conflict we have been watching.

    Who is Chen?

    Then comes the surprise.

    Chen finally appears.

And he is played by Yoo Ji-tae.

For Korean drama and film fans, that casting alone immediately makes the character difficult to dismiss as a minor cameo.

Chen appears to represent a much higher level of Babylon’s power structure.

Instead of continuing the war immediately, he enters into an uneasy arrangement with Ji-an’s side.

The immediate battle may be over.

    The larger conflict is not.

That is why Chen’s appearance feels less like the conclusion of Season 2 and more like the opening scene of another story.

Did the finale set up Season 3?

The series has not given viewers a simple “everything is finished” ending.

    Quite the opposite.

Murthehelp still exists as an organization even after the physical shop is destroyed.

    Babylon still exists.

    Chen has finally revealed himself.

And Ji-an has moved into a completely different position within the story.

    Reddit viewers noticed this immediately.

Some fans described the ending as rushed, especially because several important characters die in such a short period.

Others felt the final episode was clearly preparing something bigger for another season.

    That interpretation makes sense.

But there is an important distinction:

A setup for another story is not the same thing as an official Season 3 confirmation.

Until Disney+ formally announces another season, Chen should be viewed as an open door rather than proof that Season 3 is guaranteed.

The biggest change is not Chen — it is Ji-an

Chen may be the most obvious cliffhanger.

But he may not actually be the most important part of the ending.

    That belongs to Ji-an.

Season 1 was largely built around Jin-man’s rules.

He prepared Ji-an for danger without fully explaining the world surrounding her.

Again and again, his instructions saved her life.

Season 2 gradually changes that relationship.

Ji-an begins making her own choices.

    She understands Murthehelp.

    She understands Babylon.

She creates plans instead of merely following them.

And then the finale gives us the line that completes the reversal:

    “Listen up, Jung Jin-man.”

The student is now giving instructions to the teacher.

The niece is giving orders to the uncle.

The person Jin-man spent years trying to protect has become someone capable of protecting — and commanding — others.

Why did so many characters have to die?

This is also where some viewers remain divided.

Pa-shin and Brother are not disposable characters.

Their deaths remove two important members of Ji-an and Jin-man’s world in rapid succession.

For some viewers, that gives the finale real emotional weight.

For others, it makes the final episode feel rushed.

Both reactions point toward the same narrative change.

    The old Murthehelp is gone.

Even if the organization survives, the team that existed before the final battle cannot simply be rebuilt.

If the story continues, Ji-an will inherit something very different from the shop Jin-man created.

So what does the ending really mean?

Season 1 asked whether Ji-an could survive Jin-man’s world.

Season 2 gives us the answer.

    She can.

But surviving it has changed her.

    She has lost people.

She has destroyed the physical shop.

She has manipulated Babylon’s own system against it.

And by the final scene, she is no longer waiting for Jin-man to tell her what to do.

    Then Chen appears.

That is why the ending feels both complete and unfinished.

The battle against Kusanagi is over.

The battle with Babylon may not be.

And if A Shop for Killers does return for Season 3, the biggest change may not be the new villain waiting across the table.

It may be the person sitting on the other side.

Because next time, **Jin-man may not be running Murthehelp.

    Ji-an might be.**

  • EXO Finally Came Back—So Why Were Some EXO-Ls Refusing to Celebrate?

    EXO finally came back.

    A new full-length album.

    A new world tour.

    Concerts across Asia.

For fans who had waited years for major group activities, this should have been a simple celebration.

But for some EXO-Ls, it wasn’t.

Because when EXO returned with “Reverxe” in January 2026, three familiar members weren’t there:

    Baekhyun. Chen. Xiumin.

The three members of EXO-CBX have remained absent from recent EXO group activities amid their unresolved dispute with SM Entertainment.

And the situation became so emotionally divisive that EXO’s Reddit community created dedicated spaces specifically for fans who felt unable to celebrate the comeback.

So how did one of K-pop’s most anticipated reunions become so complicated?

EXO Returned After Two and a Half Years

On January 19, EXO released its eighth full-length album, “Reverxe.”

It was the group’s first full-length album since Exist in 2023.

Then came something fans had waited even longer for.

    A major EXO concert tour.

“EXO Planet #6 – EXhOrizon” began with three concerts at Seoul’s KSPO Dome in April.

Those Seoul concerts were EXO’s first major concert run in the city in more than six years.

The tour then expanded through Asia.

By August, EXO had performed 27 shows in 14 cities, with three encore concerts scheduled at Seoul’s KSPO Dome for November 6–8.

On paper, it looks like the EXO comeback fans had been waiting for.

Except it wasn’t the EXO lineup everyone wanted to see.

    Three Members Were Missing

Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin—collectively known as EXO-CBX—didn’t participate.

The trio had left SM Entertainment for their individual activities following their earlier contract dispute, while remaining officially part of EXO.

But their relationship with SM deteriorated further.

In October 2025, SM announced EXO activities involving six members: Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun and Lay.

CBX’s side subsequently said the trio wanted to reach an agreement that would allow them to participate in EXO activities.

SM responded that resolving the legal dispute and participating in EXO group activities were separate issues, arguing that trust needed to be restored first.

    Suddenly, EXO had returned.

But three EXO members weren’t participating.

Reddit Needed a Separate Space Just for Fans Who Couldn’t Celebrate

This is where the fan reaction becomes especially interesting.

The EXO subreddit didn’t simply have a few disappointed comments.

Moderators created a dedicated megathread for discussion of EXO, CBX and the upcoming comeback after it became clear that CBX would not participate.

Eventually, another dedicated thread was created specifically for people who were boycotting, feeling bittersweet about, or simply unable to get excited about the comeback because CBX was missing.

The moderators explicitly asked fans who were enjoying the comeback not to use that particular space to promote it.

Think about how unusual that is.

A fandom had waited years for EXO to return.

Then part of that fandom needed its own space to explain why the comeback itself made them sad.

But That Doesn’t Mean EXO-Ls All Felt the Same Way

    This distinction matters.

Reddit doesn’t represent the entire EXO fandom, and even within Reddit there was no single consensus.

Some fans supported the members who were actively promoting and wanted to enjoy the new album and concerts.

Others felt that celebrating without Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin was emotionally difficult.

And some were caught somewhere between those positions.

Recent discussions still show fans hoping that the disputes can eventually be settled and that all nine current EXO members might share a stage again.

That’s why describing this simply as “fans versus EXO” misses the point.

Many of the disappointed fans were upset precisely because they wanted more EXO, not less.

Then the CBX Story Changed Again

    And now there’s another twist.

CBX’s dispute isn’t limited to SM.

The trio also became embroiled in a separate conflict with INB100, the agency handling their individual activities.

Baekhyun originally established INB100 in 2023, before it was absorbed into One Hundred Label the following year.

CBX later alleged that they weren’t receiving required signing fees and revenue settlements and sought to terminate their contracts.

Then, on September 15, 2026, the Seoul Central District Court granted CBX’s request to suspend their exclusive contracts with INB100 while the main lawsuit proceeds.

The court cited unpaid settlements and concluded that the basic relationship of trust underlying the contracts had broken down.

So now the situation is even stranger.

CBX has had disputes involving both SM and the company that later managed their individual careers.

Meanwhile, EXO continues touring without them.

    EXO Is Still Moving Forward

Despite all of this, EXO hasn’t stopped.

The EXhOrizon tour continued through cities including Nagoya, Osaka, Macau, Hong Kong and Jakarta.

And after completing the tour schedule, EXO is set to return to Seoul for three encore concerts in November.

That’s important because this isn’t a story where the group simply disappeared while the lawyers fought.

    EXO is active.

    CBX is active.

But right now, they aren’t active together.

And that’s exactly what makes the situation so difficult for longtime fans.

EXO Came Back. But What Does “EXO Comeback” Mean Now?

EXO officially consists of nine members:

Suho, Chanyeol, Kai, D.O., Baekhyun, Sehun, Xiumin, Chen and Lay.

Yet Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin remain on hold from current EXO activities.

That’s why the 2026 comeback created such conflicting emotions.

    For some fans:

    EXO finally returned.

    For others:

EXO returned—but not the EXO reunion they had been waiting for.

And now that CBX has won an injunction in its separate dispute with INB100, another question is likely to grow louder:

Will Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin ever stand on an EXO stage again?

Nobody outside the parties involved can answer that yet.

But judging by how long fans have continued discussing it, plenty of EXO-Ls still want to know.
